Freedom of Speech and Responsibility
26 January Special | A Message to the Public
Freedom of speech is one of the strongest pillars of a Republic.
It allows citizens to question, criticize, and correct power.
But freedom of speech is not freedom from responsibility.
In the digital age, every citizen holds a microphone.
A message typed in seconds can influence thousands — sometimes millions.
Words can inform.
Words can unite.
Words can also mislead, divide, and destroy trust.
The Constitution protects the right to speak.
It does not protect the spread of hatred, falsehood, or deliberate harm.
In a Republic, speech must serve truth, not ego.
Responsible speech asks:
- Is it true?
- Is it fair?
- Is it necessary?
Freedom becomes strength only when guided by conscience.
Otherwise, it turns into noise.
